Promote Students.
Prepare the next session thoughtfully.

Record each student’s class for the next academic session, review the selected roster and check the actual destination’s capacity—without changing the current session’s class.

01Choose sessions

Set the From and To academic years.

02Review students

Select the current class and included students.

03Check the target

Review the destination and its own capacity.

04Record progression

The new class takes effect on session activation.

01Session planning

Next year’s class.
This year stays intact.

From Session and To Session establish the transition. Promotion records the class in the destination session; the screen explicitly states that nothing about the student in the From session changes.

  • Choose the current and destination academic sessions.
  • Review the promotion criteria and current class.
  • The destination follows the From session’s next-class configuration.
Why it matters for your school

The school can prepare next year’s placement without rewriting the current year’s student context.

02Student selection

A class transition.
A reviewed student list.

Select students by the current class or optional admission-number selection, then Show Student List. The roster presents student names, admission numbers and roll numbers before Promote Selected.

  • Review the selected students before recording promotion.
  • Use Select All or Clear to manage the selection.
  • Check each student’s admission and roll references.
Why it matters for your school

The transition starts with an explicit roster, helping the office spot unintended inclusions before proceeding.

03Target capacity

The actual destination.
Its actual seats.

The target summary shows incoming students, capacity, occupied places and available places for the class the progression ladder actually selects. The capacity check is read-only and does not itself promote anyone.

  • Compare the incoming roster with the target class’s capacity.
  • Use the target’s own configured class or section capacity.
  • Spare seats in a sibling section are not borrowed.
Why it matters for your school

Placement planning uses the real destination rather than an optimistic total across unrelated sections.

04Session activation

Record the plan.
Activate it at the right time.

Promotion and session activation are separate decisions. Recording the destination class prepares the next session; the student’s current class is updated when that session is activated.

  • Promotion records a destination-session class.
  • The From session’s student context remains unchanged.
  • Session activation is what updates the current class.
Why it matters for your school

The school can separate preparation from the date the new academic session becomes current.

distinctions.

Discuss the promote students workflow with the Schogle team, using your school’s requirements.

Discuss this workflow
Does promotion change the current session?

No. The supplied screen states that nothing about the student in the From session changes.

When does the student’s current class change?

When the destination session is activated—not simply when promotion is recorded.

Does Check capacity promote students?

No. It is a read-only capacity check; no students are promoted by that check.

Can it use a sibling section’s spare seats?

No. The screen says capacity is checked against the class or section actually selected by the progression ladder, never a sibling section’s spare capacity.

The supplied promotion screen shows session planning, roster review and target-capacity checks. Confirm progression configuration and available criteria with our team.
