Assign Houses.
Give every student a place to belong.

Allocate students to houses one class at a time. Read membership totals, focus on unassigned students and review house selections in the same student list.

01Choose a class

Load its students and selected houses.

02Read membership

Review the totals for each house.

03Prepare allocation

Choose memberships in the roster.

04Review & save

Check the remaining unassigned students.

01Class & houses

One class at a time.
Every house in view.

Class and House(s) define the allocation view. Show List brings students into a roster with the selected houses as columns and a membership summary above.

  • Choose a class before allocating students.
  • Select the houses to include in the view.
  • Keep names and admission numbers beside membership choices.
Why it matters for your school

Staff can approach house allocation as a focused class task rather than a school-wide spreadsheet.

02Student membership

A student’s name.
Their house alongside.

Each house has a selection in the student row. A search by name or admission number and an Only unassigned option help focus attention on students still needing an allocation.

  • Find a student by name or admission number.
  • Use Only unassigned to focus the remaining work.
  • Review membership selections before Save.
Why it matters for your school

The allocation is readable in the student context, making missing memberships easier to spot.

03Allocation overview

Read the balance.
Review the result.

House summaries show member counts, with Fill unassigned beside each house and Auto-balance above the roster. A remaining-unassigned count appears beside Save. The screen shows these shortcuts without defining their allocation algorithm.

  • See the membership count for every displayed house.
  • Fill unassigned and Auto-balance are shown as allocation shortcuts.
  • Review the roster and unassigned count before saving.
Why it matters for your school

The team gets a visible overview without losing the final student-by-student review.

A few important
distinctions.

Discuss the assign houses workflow with the Schogle team, using your school’s requirements.

Discuss this workflow
Where do house names come from?

House Manager maintains the school’s house definitions. Assign Houses uses those references for student allocation.

Can we focus on students without a house?

Yes. The supplied screen includes Only unassigned and a remaining-unassigned count.

How does Auto-balance choose students?

The shortcut is shown, but its algorithm and constraints are not provided. Confirm the available behaviour in a demo.

Are memberships limited to one house?

The supplied grid has separate house selections. Confirm membership and designation rules rather than assuming a one-house limit.

Confirm membership rules, house designations, Fill unassigned and Auto-balance behaviour in a demo. The examples here are fictional, not saved allocations.
